Spa, Buckinghamshire
In deliberate contrast to the traditional interiors elsewhere, this new transformation of the upper floor of a wing of a country house in Buckinghamshire was designed as a series of discrete but continuous contemporary spaces that can be divided by sliding full height screens.
Providing a cinema room, a spa and a small gym the area is also conceived as a place for the display of works of art. The placement and height of these were carefully considered from an early stage in the design process.
The disciplined palette of materials, colours and textures employed creates a calm but ordered atmosphere in which life and art successfully co-exist.
