Residence, Notting Hill

Semi derelict when acquired by the present owners, very little remained of the original nineteenth century interior or of the rear facade which was in a dangerous state.

It was decided to preserve and restore the front facade but to rebuild completely all floors of the house behind.

Internally the house is disposed around a sitting room that is two storeys high with a five meter tall window that both floods the interior with light and gives long westerly views.

A galleried library room at first floor looks down into the double height living space. A bridge running across this space gives access to the owners study.

A glass and steel staircase ascends to the very top of the house; light from a skylight in the roof penetrates all the way down to the ground floor.

Three bedrooms each with an en-suite occupy the uppermost two floors. Reached by a staircase from the main bedroom a roof terrace extends over the entire top floor of the house.
